Online Sic Bo

Sic Bo

Sic Bo is a fun, fast paced casino game that will appeal to both Craps and Roulette players as it combines elements of each. It will also appeal to players looking for something a little different who are keen to put their money on the roll of the dice.

Although there are many similarities between Sic Bo and Craps, this online casino game is played with 3 dice instead of 2, which is rather funny as the translation of its name means ‘dice pair’. It is also known as Dai Sai, which translates to Big Small, and Tai Sai, which means Lucky Dice. The game has its roots in ancient China but it has been developed along the same lines as English favourites such as Chuck-a-Luck and Hazard.

The Basics of Sic Bo

Sic Bo is played on a board, and although this casino game may look rather complex at first, it is actually very simple. The dealer throws 3 dice, and players must bet on the results. The betting options are varied and you can wager on any single number, 2 specific numbers or a combination of numbers being rolled. Each bet has a payout that relates to its probability, and much like Roulette, you can place as many bets as you choose per round.

When you play at an online casino all the action takes place virtually, and a Random Number Generator determines the results.

Betting Options

Essentially, Sic Bo has 6 different betting options and these can be broken down as follows:

  • Total:

Players looking for the easiest bet should opt for the Total, as this is the easiest on the board. All you need to do is predict what the total will equal on the 3 dice, and you can choose from 4 to 17, as numbers 3 and 18 fall under the Triple 1 and Triple 6 wagers.

  • Small and Big:

This option sees you bet on the total of the 3 dice being ‘Small’ or ‘Big’. Small is between 4 and 10, and Big falls between 11 and 17. The casino game payouts here are 1:1 as it is an even chance bet, but you must remember that you will lose if a Triple is rolled. The Triple rule is a bit like the zero on the Roulette wheel in that it makes all 50/50 bets a little uneven in order to allow for the house edge to be maintained.

  • Combination:

A combination is a wager on any 2 numbers being rolled on the 3 dice. You can bet on a 2 and a 4, and will win if a roll reveals a 4, a 2 and a 5. As long as your 2 combination numbers are rolled you’ll be paid out.

  • Single:

With a Single you need to predict a single number will be rolled on any of the 3 dice. If your single number appears once you’ll be paid out 1:1 by the online casino, but if it appears twice you’ll get 2:1, while landing all 3 of the same single number will reward you with a whopping 12:1 return.

  • Double:

A Double sees you wager on 2 of the same numbers being rolled. For example, if you roll 4, 3, 4 you’ll win the Double. The catch here is that you cannot just wager on there being a double, you have to specify what number will be doubled, and that can be tricky.

  • Triple:

A Triple is where you bet that all 3 dice will show the same number. Here however you can bet on a specific triple number appearing 3 times, or you can simply predict that any number will appear 3 times.
