In May 2016 Canadian gambling giant Amaya Inc. announced its intention to launch its BetStars sports betting platform in Italy and France, ahead of the UEFA Euro 2016 football championship. In May the Italian website went live and the French version was set to follow shortly thereafter. On June the 15th the beta version of BetStars’ French website was launched, with seven of the world’s most popular sports available for betting, and more to be added in the forthcoming months. For French bettors the BetStars launch couldn’t come at a better time, and soccer has been included in the betting line up, making wagering on UEFA games a reality. Amaya Inc. and its subsidiary, the Rational Group, who is the operator of PokerStars, the world’s biggest online poker room, launched BetStars in December 2015. The brand has however already grown from strength to strength, due in part to the reputation of its parent company. By launching in France at this pivotal time, BetStars has garnered itself good publicity and is able to offer its services to a wider European audience.
The BetStars sportsbook can be accessed on both desktop and mobile, and has been optimised to run smoothly on smartphones and tablets. Along with an array of diverse sporting markets, BetStars also offers in-play betting to local French bettors. The Spin & Bet feature has also proven to be very popular, both in Italy and France, as it offers multiplied winning opportunities. Amaya Vice President of Corporate Communications, Eric Hollreiser is thrilled that BetStars has reached another international, regulated market, and has voiced his approval of French bettors now having access to a secure, safe and convenient online sports betting hub. Hollreiser also noted that they had noticed a strong crossover of bettors and poker players and, by offering both options, they were able to meet a rising demand. By providing a single wallet solution for poker players and sports fans, BetStars was able to fill a niche in the French online gaming market in a very successful way. Amaya and its subsidiaries have been working hard to promote and grow the brand, and early reports show that they are enjoying a reasonable return on investment. It seems that the brands idea of spending money to make money is paying off, and that they are enjoying growing organically in the industry.
