Meadowlands Races To Help Sports Betting Sites

Ontario’s current live horse racing situation remains uncertain. This comes as a blow to the province’s horse people and sports betting sites, as most of the major events have been rescheduled for a later date. As a result, Meadowlands, the New Jersey racetrack, will be hosting additional events. This is in order to keep the province’s three-year-old pacers and their trainers at the track.
The global health crisis has severely affected Ontario’s live harness industry. The province finds itself in yet another lockdown after the government announced its most recent stay-at-home order. This caused Woodbine Entertainment to announce last week that the North America Cup, one of the year’s most anticipated events, will be pushed back to the fall.
Working Towards A Solution
As a means of keeping pacers at the track, Meadowlands has co-operated with the Standardbreed Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey. This will add open races for three-year-old pacing colts and fillies and give sports betting sites a boost too. These upcoming races are expected to be held each Saturday in June, with a preference for Meadowlands Pace, the North America Cup, Mistletoe Shalee and Fan Hanover participants.
Jeff Gural, the President and CEO of Meadowlands, released a public statement with regards to the current horse situation in Ontario. He said that without a doubt, the province’s horse owners and trainers have been affected by the suspension of the races. He went on to explain that with the rescheduling of the North America Cup and several other events, three-year-old pacers need to be in shape for the track’s marquee stakes.
However, the racetrack and its association will be aiding not just three-year-old pacers, but others too. Nancy Takter, a trainer, contacted the track about returning JK First Lady and Peaky Sneaky, four-year-old mares. They were on course to compete in the Roses Are Red event, but it was also postponed.
New Events Added
Meadowlands racetrack has added new events to its schedule and you’ll find odds for these at local and international sports betting sites like Spin Sports. These are set to be held in late May and early June for pacing mares. Competition dates for older pacing and trotting horses and geldings are expected to be announced soon.
On 11 and 25 June, open races for three-year-old trotting colts and fillies will be held. Each one of these races will have a preference for horses paid into the track’s stakes. Ron Burke, a trainer, has expressed his gratitude to the track and the New Jersey association. He said that if it was not for the track, the horses would have had at least a six-week break. Now, they will be able to stay in shape.
