January 20th, 2013 marked an important day in online gaming, as the all-time Progressive Jackpot record was broken with a lucky winner bagging a huge payout of C$17,861,813. The winner, a 40 year old male from Helsinki won the Progressive Jackpot on the popular online Slot, Mega Fortune, making this the largest ever single payout in the online casino industry. Mega Fortune is a game developed by Net Entertainment and the big win was recorded at Aland based PAF online casino. According to PAF online casino, their player logged in and played Mega Fortune with 25 cent stakes on the Slot until he suddenly hit the main jackpot. The next day PAF spoke to the lucky player about his massive windfall. He said “It was completely unreal. I laughed and cried all at once. Can this really be happening? I wondered.”

Fortunately for this player it really was happening, even thought he had to be calmed down by his girlfriend until the good news sunk in! This win sets a new record in Progressive Jackpot payouts, with the former world record, certified by the Guinness Book of World Records, was for just over C$11.7 million. The new record blows this one out of the water, surpassing it by six million euros. Coincidentally, the previous record win was also on the same Slot, Mega Fortune, in September 2011. Since then, Mega Fortune, a 5 Reel, 25 Payline Slot, has paid out huge rewards including C$6.9 million, C$3.9 million and C$3.1 million. Anders Sims, Head of Press and PR at PAF online casino said that the entire business have been waiting in anticipation over the winter whilst the jackpot kept growing and he was naturally thrilled it was one of his players who won the prize sum.

PAF CEO Anders Ingves said that the online casino advises the big winners to seek economic counselling and to remain anonymous, as well as take a break from playing. With many online casinos offering Progressive Jackpots, players have the opportunity to play for millions.
