The Battle of Online vs Land-Based Casinos

The internet is a force that has truly turned our existence upside down. It has revolutionized the way we communicate, to the extent that it is now our standard medium of everyday communication. In almost everything we do, we use the internet - from ordering a pizza to buying a television or sharing a special moment with a friend. There are many casino lovers who have never played a game online.
The buzzing atmosphere and bright lights are to many just as enjoyable as the game itself and the very idea of taking one of life’s greatest pleasures and turning it into an artificial experience is incomprehensible to them. Similarly there are hardcore online gamers that have never in their lives stepped foot inside a real casino. Maybe they like to play their favourite game without being surrounded by crowds of people, or they may simply not have a casino nearby.
There are obvious reasons why players may prefer one method of playing over the other, but let’s take a closer look at the ways online and land-based casinos differ.
One of the most obvious perks of online casino gaming is flexibility. Unless you are lucky enough to live right next door to a casino, a land-based casino requires you to get off the couch and travel to play your favourite game. Once you’ve made it to the casino, you may have to queue to get your chips and then again before there’s a vacant space at a table. This potential waiting around just isn’t very appealing when you have the option of walking over to your computer and accessing your favourite game at the touch of a button. If walking over to your computer is too much trouble, there’s a handy little device in your pocket that makes it possible for you to play your favourite game without even getting out of bed.
All of the major casino sites now offer apps and mobile versions of their casino sites that work very well. How great for the lazy among us! Another good thing about online casinos is that they usually come with training rooms where you can play for free for a certain amount of time. You can actually practice and become a better player without spending a single dollar.
On the other hand, online casinos can never give you the authentic gambling experience that the land-based casino can. People come to the casino because of the atmosphere. Casinos are (often) glamourous, decked out with gorgeous chandeliers, beautiful green felt tables and loads of other decorative features. Casinos are fun, equipped with a bar where you can order your favourite drink to sip on while playing your favourite game, perhaps with a restaurant and some nice background music. It is even rumoured that some casinos increase the oxygen content of the atmosphere, to induce a sensation of euphoria. How about that?
Does this comparison mean that online casinos are better than land-based ones? Definitely not.
They are both good in their own way – each with their pros and cons, so the only way to find out which one you prefer is to try both out and see what works for you.
