Top online Casino Unibet has announced that it is launching its very own standalone Poker product and, as a result, will no longer be a part of the successful Microgaming Poker Network. A lesser-known software development company, Relax Gaming, has been appointed by Unibet to create the exclusive Poker technology for use on its own brands. As part of this new venture, Unibet will be investing a massive CA$1.7 million in Relax Gaming, in return for a stake in the company. Unibet and Relax Gaming have yet to disclose the details of this agreement, so we currently are unaware of how large a stake Unibet owns.

Daniel Eskola, the Head of Gaming at Unibet, explained that “the environment in the online Poker industry has changed over the years and we have come to the insight that being part of a Poker network is not sustainable for Unibet in the long term. “This project has given us the possibility to start from a blank piece of paper and define everything we believe is important for a fun Poker experience. In a way, our goal is to bring the fun back to Poker by creating software with a clear focus on the casual player.”

Eskola was keen to add that the relationship between Unibet and Microgaming remained extremely strong, as Unibet will continue to use Microgaming’s top-of-the-range Casino games.
