In the early days of the most famous card game family, women were conspicuous by their absence. That began to change in the 1970s, and as the 10 richest female Poker players prove, they now are more than a force to be reckoned with.
While it is ridiculous to think that the first Women’s World Open took place in 2007, the top female Poker players of today point to a bigger, brighter future for the game.
10. Loni Harwood
The daughter of pro player Joel Harwood, Loni Harwood learned the basics simply by watching her father play the game online. She obtained a finance degree from Albany University in 2012.
She won 2 World Series of Poker circuit rings that same year, and went on to win a bracelet after 3 final tables at the following year’s WSOP. Her total winnings thus far amount to US$2,923,298.00.
9. Maria Ho
In 9th place among the 10 richest female Poker players, Taiwanese-American Maria Ho has played at a professional level for 15 years. Ho first attracted attention when she placed 38th at the 2007 WSOP and won US$237,865.00.
She went on to sit at 5 final tables on the World Poker Tour, made 8 wins at WSOP 2014, and placed 6th in a final table finish at WSOPE 2017. Ho’s career has seen 54 WSOP cashes. Her total winnings amount to approximately US$2,994,845.00.
8. Maria Lampropulos
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Maria Lampropulos entered the world of professional Poker in 2014. She started out in No Limit Hold’em games, and went on to claim victory in Nottingham and at Paradise Island.
The latter win brought with it the honour of becoming the first female player to take the title at the main event. Lampropulos’ total winnings are at US$3,012,771.00.
7. Joanne JJ Liu
Also known as JJ, Hall of Fame inductee Joanne Liu ranks 7th among the top female Poker players in terms of earnings. Born in Taiwan, Liu now lives in California, USA.
She was the runner-up at the 2004 World Poker Tour Bay 101 tournament. The following year saw her place 4th at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic. In 2007, she was runner-up at the Bay 101 Shooting Stars event. One of Liu’s most impressive wins was her first-place spot at the US$1,100 No Limit Hold’em – 10 Hour Ironman event in 2017. Her total winnings thus far are US$3,230,438.00.
6. Vanessa Rousso
Vanessa Rousso retired from the pro circuit in 2013. Even so, she remains one of the richest female Poker players.
The most impressive wins of her career, which saw a total of 2 WPT final tables and 17 WSOP money finishes, took place in 2006, 2009, 2010, and 2011. The best of those was her 2009 high-roller championship win at the EPT Grand Final in Monaco. Her total winnings amounted to US$3,554,327.00.
5. Liv Boeree
Nicknamed the Iron Maiden, Liv Boeree is a British professional player who also has a degree in astrophysics. Her first big win happened at 2010’s EPT Sanremo, but she also has put in sterling performances at WSOP main events in Cannes and Las Vegas, as well as London’s PokerStars Festival’s high roller event.

Better known as Kathy, Kathleen Liebert is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. She made her WSOP final table debut in 1997, and has been a series regular ever since.
A true veteran player, Liebert has given impressive performances throughout her career. However, few were as spectacular as the Party Poker cruise US$1 million first prize in 2002. She has won an incredible US$6,236,222.00 over the years.

Undoubtedly the world’s top female Poker player, retired professional Vanessa Selbst has won main events on the Partouche tour, the North American tour, and even has 3 WSOP bracelets. She also has 2 WPT final tables.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Selbst has a political science degree from Yale University, as well as a J.D. degree from the university’s law school. Her total Poker winnings amount to US$11,851,382.00, making her one of the top poker players of all time.
