Grand Villa Edmonton to Open in September
Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited is a Canadian casino operator that is based in Vancouver and runs 12 gaming establishments in British Columbia and Alberta. The company has announced that the opening of its most recent project, the Grand Villa Edmonton development, will take place on the 7th of September, 2016.
The Grand Villa Edmonton will be part of the new Ice District that has been planned for downtown Alberta, to be situated around the Rogers Place ice hockey arena. This has already been called the next great hockey arena, and is to be the new home of the famous Wayne Gretzky statue. The casino is the first project in the planned Ice District to be completed, stands 4 stories high and is said to have cost 24.5 million dollars to construct.
Tony Santo, the Chief Executive Officer of Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited, described the new upscale development as a premier destination for gaming entertainment and dining. It is also expected to create up to 200 full-time jobs for local residents, and contribute to community upliftment in line with the Gateway group’s policy of doing this wherever possible. The Match Eatery and Public House restaurant and the 60,000 square foot casino, complete with 24 game tables and 600 slots machines, will both require a vast number of permanent employees.
The exclusive grand opening on the 7th of September is to be hosted by Jason Strudwick, former NHL defenseman and a native resident of Edmonton. Guests can expect live music, specials on food and drink, mystery giveaways and a few other surprises that the organisers have not revealed. The first 200 people to arrive will also each be presented with an envelope, containing up to 76 dollars’ worth of vouchers.
Existing members of the Players Rewards Club will also be able to swipe their cards and stand the chance of winning additional instant prizes. The Rewards Club operates at every Gateway establishment, and makes playing more worthwhile for the members on its Diamond, Double Diamond and Triple Diamond levels. Special perks include bonus points, discounts at local eateries and, of course, instant prizes at the Grand Villa Edmonton’s opening event.
The opening of the Grand Villa Edmonton has been eagerly awaited and Canadians are expected to flock to the establishment to check out what it has to offer.
